The implementation of training courses: the thorn in the side of L&D departments? - eLearning letter

In his interview with the e-Learning Letter, Jérémy Salmon (Co-founder and COO, Fifty) emphasizes that the application of the knowledge acquired in training is still too often lacking. This reduces the effectiveness of training, especially when training is asked to help change behavior. How can we mobilize on the transfer of achievements?

Jeremy Salmon: First, it is a question of making an uncompromising assessment of all the methods used and asking ourselves which ones correspond to which challenge. A well-done eLearning serves to acquire knowledge and to memorize it; a self-diagnosis or a simulation will serve to position yourself, to appropriate this knowledge, etc. But be careful not to confuse these devices, which help “I understood and I want to change” with “I am changing and I am able to measure it”.

It is a question of combining the ancestral method of small steps with the power of digital technology, following the model that learners have already well established in their personal lives. Practicing a sport, being greener, eating better: all new behaviors that are acquired by doing, and not only by reading.

What are the scientific foundations of “eDoing”?

Jeremy Salmon: The eDoing recommends to learners personalized actions to carry out in their daily lives. For example, to work in a more agile way: “At the end of your next meeting, report back live by sharing your screen” . “
